Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte has allegedly asked for Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie to be signed this summer.
That’s according to a report from Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, as relayed by Sport Witness.
It’s stated that Conte has made a specific request for McKennie to be signed at the end of the season as he eyes another midfielder.
However, Juventus aren’t planning to let McKennie go whilst Roma are also interested.
This seems to be a common theme.
Back when Conte was linked with Tottenham in the summer, it was suggested that he had asked for McKennie during talks.
Gazzetta dello Sport added in November that Conte sees McKennie as the new Arturo Vidal and wanted him signed.
The rumours re-emerged in January, with more claims that Conte had asked Paratici to sign McKennie for Tottenham.
Here we are again then, with more claims from Italy that Conte is pestering Paratici to sign the United States ace.
This is almost starting to feel like a Leandro Damiao situation; linked with Tottenham in every transfer window but it just never happens.
McKennie, 23, showed promise with Schalke before heading to Juve in 2020. Currently out injured, McKennie has played 43 times for Juve without nailing down a starting role.

A fine box-to-box midfielder, McKennie has been compared to N’Golo Kante and Gennaro Gattuso as well as Vidal by former USA international Alexi Lalas.
That’s pretty high praise for McKennie and it seems like Conte, to some extent, agrees.
Tottenham raided Juventus for a midfielder in January by signing Rodrigo Bentancur and could repeat the trick by signing McKennie.
With Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Oliver Skipp, Harry Winks and the returning Pape Sarr also at Conte’s disposal though, is another midfielder a key priority for Tottenham?
Conte seemingly thinks so, and it looks like McKennie will be a prime target when he comes back from injury.
