Tottenham wanted Alessandro Bastoni – and it seems that he absolutely loves both Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.
Tottenham really wanted to add a left-sided centre back to bolster Antonio Conte’s side.
Ben Davies played in that role admirably last season, but it isn’t his natural position and Conte may want better in that area.
Clement Lenglet has arrived on loan from Barcelona and could play either on the left of in the centre of Conte’s back three.
Lenglet was far from Tottenham’s first choice though as Conte actually chased a reunion with Bastoni.
Tottenham Hotspur wanted Alessandro Bastoni
Conte worked with Bastoni at Inter Milan and picked him out as the top target to become Tottenham’s new left-sided centre back.
However, Bastoni rejected a move to Tottenham and chose to commit his future to Inter Milan despite suggestions that they need to sell.
Tottenham may still hold out hope of luring Bastoni to North London but it seems very unlikely right now.
If Tottenham fans were hoping for any kind of sign that Bastoni may be interested in joining Tottenham, he has just provided it.
Bastoni featured on Inter Milan’s TikTok page on Monday, building an ideal five-a-side team from randomly generated flags.

When the South Korea flag popped up, Bastoni understandably went with Tottenham star Son Heung-min.
That was an easy one; Son is not only the top South Korean player right now but possibly ever, so he certainly deserves his place in the team.
The next flag was Great Britain, and Bastoni went with another Tottenham player by choosing Harry Kane.
Think of all the other players that could have been picked there; Trent Alexander-Arnold, Phil Foden, Raheem Sterling.
Bastoni went with Kane though, showing his admiration for not one but two Tottenham players.
It’s just a bit of fun but if Bastoni is offered the chance to join both players next summer, don’t be surprised to see him take that opportunity.
