Davinson Sanchez may have to take a £15,000-a-week pay cut if he is to leave Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur for Russian giants Spartak Moscow this summer.

Late last week, Gianluca di Marzio reported that Ivan Perisic was willing to terminate the final year of his £160,000-a-week contract in order to secure an emotional return to Hajduk Split in his native Croatia.

Whether Tottenham Hotspur team-mate Davinson Sanchez will accept a financial hit of his own, however, remains to be seen.

One of Sanchez’s representatives admitted over the weekend that Spartak Moscow have now made ‘an offer’ for a defender who once set Spurs back a club-record £42 million.

“Yes, Spartak made an offer to Tottenham for Sanchez,” Fernando Villarreal explains. “Sanchez is not afraid to come to Russia, but it is too early to talk about it. Now, there are no specifics.

“The clubs communicate with each other.”

Sanchez has just one year left on his £65,000-a-week contract (Spotrac).

According to Russian publication MetaRatings, Spartak Moscow have a limit of around £50,000-a-week. Meaning the former Ajax youngster will have to weigh up the pros and cons of a move that would hit him hard in the pocket but would certainly boost his prospects of regular first-team football after a season stuck on the bench.

Fabrizio Romano believes that Spartak, meanwhile, face competition from Turkey. Galatasaray have reportedly made a bid of around £7.5 million.

If Moscow is to be his destination instead, Sanchez would be under pressure to help transform Spartak from nearly-men into genuine title challengers. Spartak finished 16 points behind Zenit St Petersburg in the Russian Premier League last term.

“If the red-and-whites want to compete with Zenit, then they need such a player,” Andrei Kanchelskis, the former Manchester United, Everton and Rangers winger, tells Sport Express.

“Is it worth paying 15 million euros for him? If Spartak has the money, let them pay. If they want him, let them sign him.”
