Tottenham striker Harry Kane has told Tuesday’s press conference – as per Football London – that people are “talking” about Manchester City star Erling Haaland and “rightly so”, after his breathtaking start to the 2022-23 campaign.
Haaland, 21, has obliterated the goalscoring charts with a huge 20 goals in 12 games already. In the Premier League, he has 15 goals in nine games. Kane has also made a wonderful start, with eight goals in nine Premier League games.
While his tally would probably be chart-topping normally, Haaland’s record is quite unattainable for others. Including, Kane. Of course, it could have been Kane on the end of Kevin De Bruyne’s passes, had he joined City last summer.
But Spurs refused to sell Kane for below their asking price and City decided to wait – before signing Haaland. Kane gave his verdict and described the Norwegian’s start to the season as “fantastic”, stating he more goals himself.

“I don’t like to think or talk about other players. But he’s had a fantastic start to the season. It’s going well in the League and I’d like to score a few more in the Champions League. People are talking about him and rightly so.”
Kane: People talking about Manchester City star Haaland and rightly so
It will not deter Kane. While he may have been eyeing up the golden boot this season after watching his teammate Son Heung-min win, level with Mo Salah, he is unlikely to do so if Haaland remains fit. Already, Haaland has 15 goals.
Such a tally would be a decent return for most Premier League strikers. But to get that amount before the middle of October is quite unheard of. He has already equalled City’s top league scorer last season – De Bruyne, with 15.
Kane might be looking at Haaland with a slightly envious eye. That is, given he came so close to joining Manchester City, and that Haaland is on the end of some incredible service. But he should be proud of his “phenomenal” form, too.
