Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies has picked Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold in his World XI, whilst also singing his praises.

The ‘world-class’ £160,000-a-week defender is having a rough season for Jurgen Klopp’s men, with Sam Allardyce even questioning if a change of role could benefit his progression.

However, a poor couple of months do not change how splendid Trent Alexander-Arnold has been for years on end, especially for Alphonso Davies, who included him in his World XI, alongside the likes of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Karim Benzema.

Alphonso Davies blown away by Trent Alexander-Arnold, picked him in his World XI

The England international himself has admitted that his form could be a lot better as a whole, as he recognizes the incredible standards he has set for himself.

While a lot of negativity has surrounded Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alphonso Davies waxed lyrical while picking him in his World XI, telling Match Attax TV, “I think he’s a top player. His attacking ability, his defensive ability and his crosses are insane, they’re really good. And this is why I’ve picked him.”

“I haven’t yet played against him and hopefully we’ll play against each other one day but I like how he plays and I like his style of play so that’s why I’ve picked him.”

The pros know what a class act Alexander-Arnold is

Brighton & Hove Albion winger Kaoru Mitoma himself defended the Reds superstar, explaining why he remains a difficult defender to face, despite public perception being that the latter was ripped apart by the former.

And now, the fact that one of Europe’s best left-backs and a full-back himself in Alphonso Davies has put Trent Alexander-Arnold in his World XI just goes to show how highly respected he is within the game.

To disregard the brilliance of the 24-year-old would be simply being a prisoner of the moment.
