Pontus Jansson has labelled Adam Forshaw a ‘top guy’ on Instagram after he departed Leeds United on Saturday.
Leeds United confirmed the midfielder’s exit following the expiry of his contract and their relegation to the Championship.
It has been reported by Leeds Live that Adam Forshaw was ‘invited to pre-season’ in the hope that he would sign a new deal, but that hasn’t happened and he is now looking for a new club.
A member of that famous promotion-winning team under the legendary Marcelo Bielsa, it was a mixed adventure for Forshaw at Elland Road.
Whilst on one hand, he got to represent the Yorkshire giants in the Premier League, he was struck down with a number of injuries, including only playing seven games during their promotion season and missing the club’s entire first campaign back to the promised land.
Pontus Jansson played alongside the Liverpool-born player and he wrote in the comments section of Leeds’ IG post on his exit ‘top guy’, with the recently-retired Pablo Hernandez responding with a raised hands, clapping and hearts emoji.

“Always welcome at Elland Road,” wrote Leeds. “#LUFC wishes @adam_forshaw4 all the best for the future, after the midfielder left the club following his contract expiring.”
Leeds in the Championship (again)
There haven’t been many incomings for Leeds and Daniel Farke, despite the new season starting in a few weeks’ time.
It wasn’t helped by the delay in the new ownership coming in and the late appointment of Farke.
But with everything now in place, the club needs to start bringing in new faces, with Ethan Ampadu the only one to arrive.
The longer Leeds take to refresh their squad, the more it will harm them when the new season kicks off.
