Ollie Watkins and Hal Robson-Kanu have reacted in a positive fashion to Ethan Ampadu securing a transfer from Chelsea to Daniel Farke’s Leeds United.
The Wales international, who had only made 12 appearances at Stamford Bridge, is Farke’s first signing after being on Chelsea’s books since he was a teenager.
When Ethan Ampadu expressed his delight on Instagram after moving to Leeds United, a number of players congratulated him and wished him well in the comments section.
Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins, who played with the ball-playing defender at Exeter, wrote ‘good luck bro’, whilst former Wales star Robson Kanu added ‘Love this, bro’.
From Ampadu’s perspective, this is a great move. Yes, Leeds are in a spot of bother after their relegation, but they are a massive club and he, after four loan spells, has now finally found a new home where he can start games regularly.
The only question has to be asked is that is it a good purchase from Leeds’ side? Either way, the player himself was delighted with the move.

“Let’s go @leedsunited family 🟡🔵,” said Ampadu. “Thank you to everyone for the welcome. See you all at Elland Road.”
More changes needed at Leeds
This one defensive change isn’t going to be enough. A few more faces, at least four, will need to be added if Farke wants to help the club make an instant return to the promised land.
Leeds’ new owners have put their money in their pockets by signing Ampadu from a Premier League side. Will they do it again? It would show serious intent if they do.
The Whites have to get this right within the first season, or else, fans will understandably fear that they will end up spending a lot more years in England’s lower leagues.
