Tyson Fury is set to make his return to the ring this weekend, but his family are hoping it will be a one-off.

The two-time heavyweight champion is already seen as a future Hall of Famer, and with nothing left to prove, there’s growing sentiment that he’d be better off staying retired.

“He can beat everyone in the world, but what’s the point?” Tommy said. “He’s already proved it 10 times over. So we’ll see what happens. But whatever he does, I’m always behind him.”

Tyson Fury isn’t the only high-profile boxer in his family. His brother Tommy, who gained fame through Love Island and high-profile bouts with Jake Paul and KSI, has always been a regular presence at Tyson’s fights.

And now, Tommy has joined other family members in saying he thinks Tyson would be better off stepping away from the sport for good.

Speaking to Bloody Elbow, Tommy said: “I think if you asked any one of his family do we want to see him keeping boxing the answer would have been an all around ‘no’. That’s all the way around the board because we care about his health.

“Obviously you guys are fight fans you love to see him in the ring because he brings that entertainment. But we think of his health and everything like that so listen, he’s decided to keep fighting, it’s Tyson who is a fighting man who loves to do so.

“But I guess time will tell and I think he definitely still has it in him because he wouldn’t be getting in that ring if he knew he didn’t.”

Tommy Fury backs brother Tyson to beat Arslanbek Makhmudov

Even though he’s not thrilled about Tyson staying in the ring, Tommy Fury still thinks his brother has what it takes to beat Makhmudov.

“I think it’s going to be a great fight,” Tommy continued. “I think he probably could have picked an easier fight to come back against. He’s massive, he’s a man mountain with a knockout ratio and power and he’s been in some big fights before.”

“The thing is, Tyson just needs to stay switched on this Saturday, box how he knows he can box and he’ll get the job done. If he does that, I don’t see the fight going past eight or ten rounds. If he boxes like I know he can Makhmudov is getting stopped late on.”
