- EXCLUSIVE from Graeme Bailey
HITC sources have confirmed that Middlesbrough have won the race to land Bristol City striker Tommy Conway.
The Championship side have been in the market for a new centre-forward this summer and have now struck a deal for the 22-year-old.
Boro made their move for Conway earlier this month but faced competition from Championship rivals.
As revealed by HITC, Hull City entered a bidding war for Conway with the Tigers submitting a similar bid to Boro’s for the Bristol City star.
Burnley also shared an interest in Conway and submitted a player-plus-cash deal that included Scott Twine.
However, after further talks, Conway has now agreed to a move to the Riverside Stadium this summer – Middlesbrough are set to pay £4.5million for the Scottish international.

Middlesbrough medical scheduled
Middlesbrough have beaten their league rivals to the signing of exciting forward Conway.
Despite his age, Conway has already proven himself to be a reliable goalscorer at Championship level with 12 goals in each of his last two campaigns.
Middlesbrough have made a bright start to the season with a 1-0 win over Swansea in their league opener and a 3-0 thumping of Leeds United in the EFL Cup on Wednesday evening.
Michael Carrick usually relies on Emmanuel Latte Lath to lead the line for his side, but the signing of Conway gives him an extra option – as well as a potential partnership.
HITC can confirm that Conway is due on Teesside to complete a medical and finalise his £4.5million move. Personal terms are already in place.

He is set to become the fourth signing of the summer for Middlesbrough after deals were completed for Micah Hamilton, Aidan Morris and Delano Burgzorg.
Provided the deal is finalised and registered on time, Boro fans could get their first glimpse of Conway against Derby County next Saturday.
