Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are reportedly about to bring Takehiro Tomiyasu from Bologna to the Emirates Stadium.
Sky Sports reported earlier today that Arsenal have already agreed a fee with Bologna over the transfer of Tomiyasu.
Well-known and well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that the 22-year-old Japan international has completed a medical and is set to move to Arsenal on summer transfer deadline day.
Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol has just quoted an agent about Tomiyasu live on air which could create some confusion among Arsenal fans.
Solhekol has claimed that an agent who was trying to find the 22-year-old a club this summer has told him that Tomiyasu is neither a central defender nor a right-back.
The journalist has said on Sky Sports News (5:32pm, August 31, 2021): “I have just got a message to say, ‘Tomiyasu was offered to most clubs in the Premier League. He is a good player, but the problem is he is not really a right-back nor is he a central defender. I am not sure how he will get on at Arsenal.’ That is one of the agents who was trying to find him a club.”

This is quite a strange claim.
Tomiyasu can play as a right-back or as a centre-back.
According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, the defender played 15 times in Serie A as a centre-back last season.

The Japan international played 14 times in the league as a right-back last season.
Is this agent trying to say that the Japan international has yet to find his best position?
If so, perhaps under Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, the youngster will find it.
Let’s not forget that Tomiyasu is only 22.
Moreover, being versatile is a good thing for any footballer.
