Tom Davies is now regarded as one of the brightest prospects breaking through at Everton.
Tom Davies has told the Daily Mail that he agrees with Ronald Koeman’s comments that he wasn’t ready for Everton’s first-team before Christmas.
Davies showed flashes of quality when starting in Everton’s senior side, but Koeman was patient before unleashing the youngster on the Premier League.

The 18-year-old has now established himself as a member of the Toffees’ senior squad.
But Davies insists that Koeman was right to hold him back, as he agrees he wasn’t capable of starting for the Toffees at the beginning of the campaign.

“I wasn’t ready,” Davies admitted. “I was playing for the Under 23s. I heard what people were saying but I could see, even in training, how much I needed to improve. He took the time to leave me out and let me develop and that has given me confidence and experience.
“For him to be coaching me — and his brother (Erwin) as well — they are really helpful and I’m just trying to take everything on board.
Koeman admits he hasn’t been impressed by one of Everton’s January signings
“I feel like I have fitted in well since he gave me a chance. I feel like I am part of it. The time being out of the team was worth the wait. I feel ready now.”

Davies is now regarded as one of the most exciting talents in Everton’s team, after a string of excellent performances.
The youngster’s goal against Manchester City was the headline act of his time in Everton’s first-team so far, but he has always looked comfortable with every challenge thrown at him.
Davies is likely to play a key role for Everton over the rest of the season, as Koeman’s side look to chase down a place in the top six.
The Toffees are currently in seventh place in the Premier League table, with their next match coming against Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium.
