Huddersfield Town were on the losing side of the Championship play-off final, and the defeat to Nottingham Forest could not have been more crushing.

From the sole goal of the afternoon coming from starboy loanee Levi Colwill to referee Jon Moss dismissing two very blatant penalty calls, everything that could have gone wrong for Huddersfield did as the Terriers lost the play-off final.

Whilst the Terriers did amazing to even end up in this position, the result means another year of Championship football as the Yorkshire side must once again go another year of dreaming of a return to the Premier League.

And with Huddersfield performing so well this season, here are five players from the squad who could be ready for Premier League moves this summer despite their loss in the Championship play-off final to Forest.

Right off the back, we’re somewhat cheating as Colwill is actually a Chelsea player who joined Huddersfield last summer on loan. However, the England youth international has simply been too impressive to not deserve a mention.

Still only a teenager and looking more mature way beyond his years, Colwill could already be set for Premier League football next season after his incredible first year as a professional with Huddersfield, with top sides likely to take a punt on the 19-year-old this summer.

Harry Toffolo

Six goals and eight assists from Harry Toffolo this season made the left-back one of the most exciting breakout stars in the Championship this campaign, and after an impressive showing in the final, the 26-year-old could potentially win a move to the Premier League.

Able to play as both a left-back and a left-wingback, the former Lincoln City star has played at every EFL level in his entire career, and after his best season yet, Toffolo might never be more ready to make a name for himself in the English top-flight

Lewis O’Brien

One of Huddersfield’s most important players this season, Lewis O’Brien has long been linked with a move to the Premier League, with former Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa making no less than four attempts to sign the midfielder over the past few windows.

And after guiding the Terriers to the play-off final, O’Brien has seemingly done as much as he can with Huddersfield, with Premier League sides likely to circle the 23-year-old star this summer, with Leeds and West Ham reportedly interested in the youngster.

Duane Holmes

The oldest player on this list, 27-year-old Duane Holmes has been a regular at Championship level since 2018, and with six goals in all competitions from central midfield, the US international is hitting the prime of his career, and a Premier League side could take a punt.

Playing seven positions this season as per Transfermarkt, the Georgia state native could be an incredible option in the top flight for a club looking to make a shrewd signing, and after impressing in the Championship for so long, Holmes will be determined to showcase his talents in the top-flight.

Sorba Thomas

Released by West Ham during the early years of his career, Sorba Thomas’ story from Premier League rejection to becoming a star for Huddersfield one year after signing from Boreham Wood was one of the tales of the season, and now, the Wales international could be ready for a return to the top.

The 23-year-old produced an astonishing 16 assists in all competitions, and when you couple that record with Thomas’ brilliant story from the bottom all the way to the Championship, the Premier League will soon be calling for the Huddersfield star.
