Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has reportedly been impressed by Mauricio Pochettino, who is on the radar of Tottenham Hotspur as well.

On Thursday, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported on Twitter that Chelsea have made contact with Pochettino over becoming their manager at the end of the season.

The Times have reported that the 51-year-old is among the managers Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is looking at.

Former Tottenham forward and talkSPORT presenter Alan Brazil has said on talkSPORT (6:24am, April 21, 2023) that Pochettino “wants to go back to Tottenham”.

The Independent journalist Miguel Delaney has now reported in his Reading the Game newsletter (12:31pm, April 21, 2023) that Chelsea co-owner Boehly has been impressed by Pochettino.

Delaney wrote: “The chaos on the pitch at Chelsea has seen some relative quiet for the managerial search, but work continues with the sporting directors cutting down the list.

“The club hierarchy deny any favourites but Mauricio Pochettino could well have leapt to the top of it.

“He has had further talks with Todd Boehly this week, and the co-owner is increasingly struck by how he meets the club’s requirements – especially as regards developing young players into a competitive squad.”

HITC Verdict: Chelsea over Spurs for Pochettino

In our view, Chelsea could be more appealing than Tottenham Hotspur for Mauricio Pochettino.

Yes, we know that Spurs fans love Pochettino for what he did when he was in charge of the North London club.

Tottenham regularly finished in the Premier League top four and reached the final of the UEFA Champions League in 2019.

However, Chelsea are a bigger and more successful club than Tottenham.

True, the Blues are having a really bad campaign at the moment, but they are used to challenging for and winning the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.

And they have a very competent squad.

We believe that the chance to manage Chelsea and get them back to winning the Premier League title will be very appealing to Pochettino.
