Reports linking Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou with a move to Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur are coming as no surprise to Hoops defender Greg Taylor.

If you were to single out one member of this Celtic squad as a prime example of Ange Postecoglou’s exceptional breadth of tactical knowledge, most would pick Greg Taylor.

Previously a hard-working if limited left-back, the £3 million signing from Kilmarnock has added countless strings to his bow since the former Australia boss’s arrival. So much so, that he could probably go head-to-head with Legolas in an archery tournament these days.

A la Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta; Postecoglou expects his full-backs to drift infield and create overloads in the centre of the park, thus aiding his possession-first gameplan.

And Taylor, who like many at Celtic has ascended to previously unimaginable heights over the last two years, is not surprised to see his visionary tactician attract admiring glances from the other side of Hadrian’s Wall.

Will Ange Postecoglou leave Celtic for Tottenham Hotspur?

“There’s no point in any of us getting nervous about things like that because it’s out of my control” Taylor tells the Scottish Sun. “I suppose it’s inevitable there will be interest. That’s just what happens when someone does well at anything in life..

“There will always be plaudits that come with it. Whether that’s trophies, individual honours or links to elsewhere, we all understand that’s part of the life of a footballer and a football manager.”

Postecoglou, according to The Independent, is emerging as Tottenham’s latest managerial frontrunner after Arne Slot opted to sign a new contract at Eredivisie champions Feyenoord.

The Greek-born 57-year-old distanced himself from those rumours last week, however, shortly before lifting his second successive Scottish Premiership title in the aftermath of Saturday’s 5-0 thrashing of Aberdeen.

“I’m aware of it,” Postecoglou told the Daily Record. “Because everyone keeps asking me about it!

“But I’ve been pretty clear that it’s just not the way I think and work. My priority right now is just looking at trying to make sure we have a special day tomorrow and we have a big cup final coming up in a weeks’ time.”

Beat Inverness in next week’s Scottish Cup final, meanwhile, and Postecoglou will add a 21st title to an enviable collection of silverware.
