For a number of years, Tottenham fans have had to watch their team produce abject performance after abject performance and all of that in a defensive manner.
Yes, Spurs had trophy-winning managers in their dugout. But it just wasn’t working for them, and on top of that, the style of play didn’t fit.
But ever since Ange Postecoglou entered the Tottenham building, all of that has changed on its head because they are playing the most attacking and free-flowing football in the league.
It also needs to be noted that this is also without their all-time leading goalscorer, Harry Kane, who joined Bayern Munich in the summer.
Tim Sherwood thinks if the England captain was still at Hotspur Way, then they would be near the top of the table and challenging for the Premier League title.
Even without Harry Kane, they are still scoring goals, and even more, but Tim Sherwood thinks it’s all down to what Ange Postecoglou is doing and nothing else, as he told Premier League Productions (03/02/24 at 12:10 pm).
In pre-season, fans got a glimpse of Harry Kane, dubbed a ‘complete player’, linking up with star summer signing, James Maddison.
But for fans to see that going forward, they will have to tune in to Gareth Southgate ball for England, not a pleasant sight, is it?!
With Spurs sitting fifth in the table, Tim Sherwood feels the club would be ‘really challenging’ for English football’s main crown.
Tottenham with Harry Kane
“It’s not because Harry Kane has left the club that they have had to share them out,” said Sherwood on Spurs scoring a lot of goals after his exit.
“It’s because Postecoglou has come to the club that they share them out. If they had Harry Kane, then I am telling you, they would be up there and really challenging.
“I think the manager has to take a lot of credit. He is the one setting the standards and making the style of how they play, hence why they share the goals around the team and they are up in the goals without Harry Kane.”

Tottenham rebuilding without Harry Kane
Some Spurs fans could argue that they are ahead of their plan given what many would have feared at the start of the season.
If the club was, at this moment in time, sitting tenth in the table and struggling for goals, then it wouldn’t have been a surprise because of how the team struggled last season and how much they relied on Kane.
But many players, including the rejuvenated Richarlison, have stepped up, as well as others improving and the new signings making their mark, to ensure that Champions League football is a real possibility.
Two points separate Spurs in fifth and Aston Villa in fourth. The duo will meet again at Villa Park in March and you assume that will have a big bearing on who takes that final Champions League place.
