Thierry Henry says he ‘isn’t surprised’ by Harry Kane’s performances for Bayern Munich since leaving Tottenham Hotspur.

The 30-year-old wrote his name in the legendary books at Tottenham, including becoming the club’s all-time leading goalscorer.

But he needed those trophies to shine a light on his career, so with one year left on his contract at Spurs, he joined Bayern Munich in the summer.

And as many expected, Harry Kane is just ripping it up like no one’s business, with 18 goals in 12 Bundesliga matches, including 22 in all competitions.

Thierry Henry made it clear that the England captain is the ‘most complete’ striker in world football, as he told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (29/11/23 at 6:50 pm).

There is no doubt that he is now competing and performing on a much bigger stage, in terms of pressure and exceptions.

Bayern Munich are expected to win the lot, with many thinking that Thomas Tuchel, who won the Champions League with Chelsea, can guide them to glory in Europe.

That was touched upon by legendary striker Thierry Henry and how he expected Harry Kane to be doing exactly what he is doing.

Harry Kane at Bayern

“I am not surprised,” said Henry on Kane’s performances at Bayern. “I have been saying, for a long time, that Kane is the most complete striker in the world.

“So, it won’t change anything for me. Wherever he went, he would have performed, I think. If it was Bayern or any other club.

“Bayern Munich, by the way, when you play for a team like that, so dominant. I am not having a go at any other team, that’s the first time that Kane, at the club level, can play with a team that is so dominant on the ball for him to drop and do what he does.

“Bayern does what Bayern does (even without Kane). But if you add Kane, then forget about it, that’s a perfect match. I am not surprised by what Kane is doing. He will always make that team better.”

Tottenham without Kane

You couldn’t blame the Spurs fans for fearing the worst when Kane headed for the exit door, and that just days before the new Premier League season started.

Many expected some sort of aftershock, perhaps the team crumbling, but Ange Postecoglou has made sure it is far from that.

Yes, Spurs have lost three games in a row and, from sitting top of the table, are now fifth.

But injuries and suspensions have played their part, and in truth, the team and club as a whole have reacted very, very well now that Kane isn’t the main guy who everyone looks at.
