Jordan Henderson has completed his move from Al-Ettifaq to Ajax after a tough few months in the Middle East for the English midfielder.

The former Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson decided to leave Anfield in the summer after 12 years in Merseyside and decided on a move to the ever-developing Saudi Pro League.

However, since that move to play under Steven Gerrard and the Saudi side, the Pro League team has struggled in the division and Henderson decided this month he wanted a move away from the Middle East.

With the Englishman’s move to Ajax, he joins a growing list of players who have played for both the Dutch giants and the English giants.

Here are three of the best.

Ryan Gravenberch

One of the more recent players who have played for both of these clubs is Ryan Gravenberch. The Dutch midfielder joined the Reds from Bayern Munich in the summer for £34 million.

Gravenberch joined a host of superb midfield talents who made the move to Anfield over the summer, which was, ironically, as a result of Henderson, amongst others, leaving the club.

He has made 15 Premier League appearances this season for the Reds but has not set the league alight at this moment in time but there remains plenty of time to turn things around.

Jari Litmanen

Jari Litmanen may well be best known for his spell with the Eredivisie side during the 1990s as he made 159 appearances scoring 91 goals and the Finnish international established himself as an Ajax legend.

The attacking midfielder, however, was less remembered for his spell with Liverpool as Litmanen scored just 5 goals for the Reds, before going back to Ajax.

Despite his legendary status in the game, Litmanen was a bit of a journeyman and will have fond memories of both of his stint at Anfield and at the Johan Cruyff Arena.

Luis Suarez

Perhaps the most famous footballer who played for both Ajax and Liverpool was Uruguayan forward Luis Suarez, who showed potential in the Netherlands with a staggering 111 goals before exploding into life yet again for the Reds.

During his time at Anfield, Suarez, alongside Daniel Sturridge, almost singlehandedly won Liverpool the Premier League title but a blip towards the end of the season allowed Manchester City to win the league.

He had his issues away from the field but on the pitch he was a superb footballer. He conjured up magic that not many other footballers could recreate.

His move to Barcelona was a sad day for the Premier League but the current Inter Miami forward has had a glittering, trophy-laden career.
