Ajax have concluded the signing of England midfielder Jordan Henderson on a two-and-a-half year deal.
HITC Football revealed Ajax had opened talks with Henderson last week and they have moved quickly to finalise his signing after he agreed to cancel his contract with Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ettifaq.

33-year-old Henderson only moved the Middle East in the summer when he quit Liverpool to accept a shock, and at the time, controversial move to Al-Ettifaq.
Henderson, though, failed to settle with the Pro League outfit and made it clear to them earlier this month that he wanted to leave.
Ajax appeal
A number of clubs showed an interest, but HITC Football understands that Ajax’s willingness to offer a multi-year contract and the offer for him to become a crucial part of their rebuild was a huge appeal to him.
In agreeing his move to Ajax, Henderson joins fellow countrymen Chuba Akpom and young goalkeeper Charlie Setford. However, Henderson will become the first ever English international to represent Ajax.
Van’t Schip delight
Ajax boss John van ‘t Schip could not hide his excitement at landing Henderson and told the club’s website: “We wanted an experienced midfielder with leadership qualities. Partially due to injuries in the team, we were looking for someone who could step in immediately. Jordan Henderson is that type of player.”
“His arrival means a huge enhancement for our squad. Both on and off the pitch, a football player of this calibre is important for our many young players.
“He’s an English international player and has won the Champions League and many other prizes with Liverpool. I am happy he’s here, and I think it’s very good for our club that he’s an Ajacied from today onwards.”
