Several City starlets have shone at Parkhead.
As the old saying goes: If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. And Celtic’s policy of loaning players from Manchester City is certainly in rude health.
Roberts is the latest City starlet to impress at Celtic
Patrick Roberts is the latest Citizen to shine in Glasgow, having arrived on an 18-month loan in January. But before him, there were Jason Denayer and John Guidetti, who impressed at opposite ends of the pitch.
Could more be on the way this summer? Here’s three potential targets:
3) Tosin Adarabioyo
With Efe Ambrose linked with a move to Fenerbahce (Sunday Post) and Charlie Mulgrew admitting his future is uncertain (BBC), centre-back is a likely area of concern for Bhoys boss Brendan Rodgers. City have a couple of players capable of filling such a void (notably Adarabioyo and Cameron Humphreys) and they could be attainable even if Pep Guardiola fails to add to his back line. 18-year-old Adarabioyo stands at an imposing 6ft 5in, and has captained the Blues at youth level.
2) Manu Garcia
Celtic have an abundance of central midfielders, especially those, like Garcia, of the attacking variety, but with Tom Rogic being watched by Arsenal (Glasgow Evening Times), among others, and Kris Commons linked with Rotherham (Sun), they may need a contingency plan. The 18-year-old Spaniard, who’s been likened to City teammate David Silva, could be ideal.
1) Thierry Ambrose
With Anthony Stokes released, Colin Kazim-Richards bound for Brazil and both Carlton Cole (Express) and Stefan Scepovic (Mail) set to follow them out the exit door, the Bhoys could be left with few options in attack. 19-year-old Ambrose (no relation), who can play out wide as well as through the middle, impressed with four goals in last season’s Uefa Youth League and would bring pace and power to Rodgers’ attack.
