Chelsea’s former chief scout, who has worked with Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers before, is the man the Bhoys reportedly want as their new head of recruitment.
Celtic are targeting former Chelsea chief scout Lee Congerton as their new head of recruitment, according to the Scottish Sun.
The Bhoys role was vacated by John Park in October, and appointing Congerton, who worked alongside Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers at Stamford Bridge, could have its benefits.

In his previous role, the Welshman helped to lure former Chelsea youngsters Patrick van Aanholt and Fabio Borini to Sunderland, and his association with the Premier League leaders could perhaps lead to similar deals taking place between the Blues and Celtic – providing he does move to Glasgow.
And if he does, here are three players who Congerton could look to reunite with next term:
Tomas Kalas

With Kolo Toure and Efe Ambrose out of contract (assuming the latter’s proposed move to Blackburn falls through), and interest mounting in Erik Sviatchenko and Jozo Simunovic, centre-back could be an area in need of strengthening come the summer. Kalas signed for Chelsea in 2010, during Congerton’s tenure, and will likely be available upon his return from a season at Fulham.
Lewis Baker

Rodgers was said to be in pursuit of an attacking midfielder ahead of the January transfer window, although no such player arrived at Parkhead. Baker, who has scored 12 goals in 23 games on loan to Vitesse Arnhem this season, would certainly fit the bill, though much will depend on how fancied he is by Blues boss Antonio Conte – a keen promoter of youth. The 21-year-old arrived at Stamford Bridge in 2005 – the same year as Congerton.

Dominic Solanke

Out of contract in the summer, striker Solanke will no doubt be on a number of clubs’ lists, although, unlike their English counterparts, Celtic would only have to pay a fraction of the compensation required to land him – as was the case with Moussa Dembele last summer. With eyes also on Dembele – including the Blues’ by all accounts – the 19-year-old could be an ideal replacement.
