Arsenal defensive midfielder Thomas Partey has praised the Wolverhampton Wanderers fans on BBC Sport.

Partey was in action for Arsenal in the Premier League game against Wolves away from home at Molineux Stadium on Thursday evening.

The Gunners won 1-0.

Brazilian defender Gabriel scored the only goal of the match in the first half.

Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli was sent off in the second period.

After the match, Partey praised the Wolves fans at Molineux, and believes that they did make a difference to Bruno Lage’s side.

Thomas Partey on Wolverhampton Wanderers fans

Partey told BBC Sport: “We know how difficult it is to come here and get the three points.

“They have a big crowd that supports them and they got a high from the crowd but we did our best and in the end we deserved it and we fought for each other.”

Wolves could challenge for Premier League top four

In our view, Wolves are very much in the race for the Premier League top four this season, despite losing to Arsenal.

Yes, it was a disappointing result, especially as it was a home match, but there is no shame in losing to an Arsenal team who are doing well under manager Mikel Arteta at the moment.

Wolves are eighth in the Premier League table at the moment with 34 points from 22 matches, six points behind fourth-placed West Ham United, who have played 24 games.
