If there was ever an award for the most perfect name, then Saint-Etienne’s star keeper Etienne Green would easily be on the shortlist, and Tottenham have been impressed with what they’ve seen.

TeamTalk claim that Spurs, as well as West Ham, are keen on the England U-21 shot-stopper. Green has retained his spot as Les Verts’ starting keeper this season in Ligue 1.

The Essex-born talent was thrown into the Saint-Etienne first-team at the end of last season following injuries to two fellow keepers. And since then, the 21-year-old has made the position his own.

Green has started ever league game this campaign, and now Tottenham are reportedly keen on the shot-stopper. West Ham, though, could provide solid competition for the youngster

Incredible name aside, Green’s story is one of the most interesting in European football. The keeper moved to France with his family at a young age and has even represented Les Bleus at youth level.

However, after breaking into Saint-Etienne’s first-team, Green has since made the switch back to England, with the keeper recently making his U-21 debut for the Three Lions.

Indeed, with Pierluigi Gollini yet to impress, Tottenham fans are more than happy to be linked with a talented keeper in Green. His nationality also means that a transfer could be easy to complete due to Brexit rules on non-EU players.

Here’s what some Tottenham fans had to say on Twitter about their interest in Saint-Etienne keeper Green…
