Arsenal’s U-23 side booked their place in the quarter-finals of the EFL Trophy after a huge 4-1 win against Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium.

Kevin Betsy’s side have been fantastic to watch this season, with supporters confident that this current crop of Arsenal youngsters can go on to feature for the first team in some capacity.

The likes of Omari Hutchinson and Mika Biereth were in typical fine form as the Hale End duo bagged on the night in north London. Yet the goal that garnered the biggest reaction was from Marcelo Flores.

The teenage midfielder, who has already played for Mexico’s senior national team, came off the bench in a rare U-23 outing for the Canadian-born star. And within a few minutes, Flores was on the scoresheet.

The Hale End academy star might have been on the pitch for a few minutes. However, Flores had done enough to get the Emirates crowd off their feet in what was a comfortable win for Arsenal against Chelsea.

Indeed, the win against their London rivals now means Arsenal will contest in the final eight against League One side Wigan Athletic, with the fixture again likely to take place at the Emirates Stadium.

Many players on the night were impressive against Chelsea, yet for Arsenal fans on social media, it was Flores who stole the show in his brief cameo off the bench.
