Arsenal demolished Leeds 4-1 in one of Mikel Arteta’s most convincing wins of the season, so much so that the Gunners broke an impressive record that has stood for six years.
As per Squawka, Arsenal had 11 shots on target on the opening 45-minutes against Leeds, the most any side has had in the first half of a Premier League match in the past six seasons.
For a club that have been framed for failing to create chances, it is quite a sensational achievement for Arsenal as the north London side scored three past Leeds in the opening half.
Gabriel Martinelli scored a brace with two excellent finishes before Bukayo Saka made it 3-0 just before half-time after his deflected shot squeaked past Illan Meslier. Emile Smith Rowe bagged Arsenal’s fourth late in the second half after Leeds had got on the scoresheet through a Raphinha penalty.
With Arsenal now firmly in the top-four heading into Christmas, the Gunners are in some great form following their disappointing losses to Manchester United and Everton earlier in the month.
And with the north London side facing Norwich City on Boxing Day and Wolves at home the following Tuesday, Arsenal can keep their impressive run going after this big win against Leeds.
Arsenal fans stunned over broken record in Leeds win

As you can expect, though, Arsenal fans on social media were stunned that the club had broken such an impressive record against the Yorkshire side.
After all, the Gunners under Arteta have been a side that win games by narrow margins and with very few chances, which is why many supporters couldn’t believe how many shots they had against Leeds.
Here’s what some Arsenal fans had to say about the broken record this weekend on Twitter…
