Tottenham have to increase their offer for Atalanta defender Cristian Romero by €10m (£8m).
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Serie A side will only agree to a €60m (£52m) offer for the Argentine. Tottenham’s current bid is €50m (£42m) in total.
Romero is Spurs’ top defensive prospect this summer. The 23-year-old Argentine is one of Italy’s top centre-back talents.
The youngster won Serie A Defender of the Year last campaign.
Indeed, Tottenham have already made two signings this summer in the form of Pierluigi Gollini and Bryan Girl.
However, Romero would be an addition that elevates Spurs’ defence to the next level.
Moreover, with Toby Alderweireld completing a move to Qatar this week and the likes of Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez expected to move on, Romero will be an impressive signing for Tottenham.

However, supporters on social media are beginning to worry that a deal won’t happen if Spurs fail to match Atalanta’s asking price.
Indeed, Spurs have been close to signing players before only for the deal to collapse at the eleventh hour. Paulo Dybala and Milan Skirniar were both close to moving to the north London club before their transfers fell apart.
Here’s what some Tottenham fans had to say about a deal for Romero potentially falling through at the last minute on Twitter…
