Garth Crooks has admitted that he cannot see anybody stopping Arsenal right now, adding that it’s like a ‘nightmare’ for him due to his Tottenham Hotspur roots.

The Gunners moved two points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table on Sunday by drawing 1-1 away to Southampton.

It was the first stalemate that Arsenal had been involved in this season across any competition, having won 12 of their 13 games during the 2022-23 campaign before kickoff.

That right there is testament to how good Mikel Arteta’s side have been.

They’re also five points clear of North London rivals Tottenham, who have played one game more.

Crooks spent five years as a Spurs player during his career and the 64-year-old pundit has conceded that watching Arsenal dominate English football at the moment is quite unsettling.

He told BBC Sport: “This can’t be happening. Granit Xhaka, once the most unpopular player ever in an Arsenal shirt, is scoring goals, Gabriel Martinez and Bukayo Saka are playing out of their skins, the Gunners are still top of the table and I can’t see anyone stopping them at the moment.

“It’s like a nightmare unfolding in front of your very eyes.”

Will Arsenal win the Premier League?

Well, that’s the big question and one that can’t be answered just yet.

All we know right now is that the Gunners look like a class team from front to back and if they get lucky with injuries, who knows what they can achieve this season.

Arsenal haven’t won the Premier League since 2004 and although they might not do it this season either, they’re absolutely on the right track and that alone is enough to worry Tottenham supporters.
