Arsenal kicked off the new Premier League season with a deserved 2-0 win over Wolves on Saturday at the Emirates.
Kai Havertz resumed duties from last season by opening the scoring and Bukayo Saka also got on the scoresheet.
The hurt of Arsenal losing the Premier League title to Manchester City last season will still be fresh in the minds of supporters and the manager, Mikel Arteta.
The early part of the season is going to be tricky, not just for Arsenal, but many Premier League teams.
Copa America, Euro 2024 and the Olympics took centre stage this summer and it meant that several players returned late for pre-season, and in some cases, didn’t even play.
Tim Sherwood touched on how, in these moments, you need ‘top players’ to produce the goods because ‘teams aren’t playing with the fluidity’ they would like.
Saka showcased that when his brilliant cross was too difficult to handle for Wolves’ backline, as Havertz headed home to open the scoring.
The England international is one of the most important players for his club, country and one of the best in the Premier League.
Sherwood thinks he is someone who has ‘everything’ to his game after delivering again for his team, as he told Premier League Productions (17/08/24 at 8:20 pm).
Bukayo Saka has ‘everything’
“It’s so inviting, the cross was brilliant (from Saka),” said Sherwood about his assist to Havertz. “When teams aren’t playing with the fluidity, especially early on in the season, you are waiting for moments from top players. I think Saka delivered them moments.
“Once you let him in on his left foot, Ait-Nouri has to do better. But you are waiting for that to go into the bottom right-hand corner, which we have seen him do many times for Arsenal and England
“But he cuts it back into the near post. This boy has got everything.”

Arsenal’s trip to Aston Villa
Unai Emery’s team beat Arsenal home and away last season. Now, they visit Villa Park for the next Premier League fixture.
Arteta was asked about Arsenal signing a striker after the Wolves win, but you feel the Villa game will be won in midfield.

Aston Villa new boy Amadou Onana scored on his debut as they beat West Ham at the London Stadium, with Arteta sharing his thoughts on Declan Rice’s performance against Wolves. That will be a battle very much worth watching!
One player who won’t be featuring next week is Mikel Merino, with the London club very much wanting him signed, sealed and delivered.
Sources have told HITC when Arsenal want the deal for Merino done, as he is closing on a move to the Emirates.
