Jamie Carragher raved about Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg on Sky Sports Premier League (5:04pm, February 5, 2023) for his assist for Harry Kane’s goal against Manchester City at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday evening.

The former Liverpool defender was hugely impressed by how Hojbjerg controlled the ball in a very tight area and was able to shake off his man before providing the pass to his Tottenham teammate and England international striker Kane.

The goal came in the 15th minute.

Carragher was on co-commentary duty for the match on Sky Sports.

Jamie Carragher’s praise for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg v Manchester City

The pundit said about Hojbjerg in the 34th minute: “He is actually getting his shirt tugged.

“He wins the initial ball, he actually reads what’s going to happen. This bit here, when he is off-balance, but he still gets the pass out to Harry Kane, is fantastic.”

Impressive

In our view, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg played very well for Tottenham Hotspur against Manchester City, and his assist for Harry Kane’s goal was really very good.

We do not often associate the 27-year-old Denmark international midfielder with assists and chances created, but he does have that in his locker too.

Hojbjerg has the ability to venture forward and put the opposition defences under pressure.

And the Dane is also very good at stopping the opposition play and in making himself a force to be reckoned with in the middle of the park.

Like he did against City today.

Hojbjerg has scored 12 goals and created 15 big chances in 204 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
