Everton secured a narrow victory against Newcastle United over the weekend, with Thierno Barry netting his sixth goal of the season.
The striker found the net in the 3-2 victory, taking Everton to 40 points faster than they have managed since 2017.
Barry’s goal also broke a club trend that had lasted more than two years. He became the first substitute to score a Premier League winner for Everton since Idrissa Gana Gueye did it back in November 2023.
In that match, Gueye came off the bench and scored an 86th-minute winner against Crystal Palace, having replaced Amadou Onana earlier in the game.
David Moyes weighing up front two option with Thierno Barry and Beto

Barry was left out of the starting line-up against Newcastle for the first time since December, other than during the FA Cup loss to Sunderland.
With both the Frenchman and Beto finding the net, it is not yet clear which one will get the nod this evening.
Moyes was asked during Monday’s press conference about playing them together. He said: “Possibly, at times.
“There are other factors that lead into that. Other people are coming out of the side and you’re looking at different players if you do that as well.
“It’s probably been out of fashion, two strikers, for maybe 20 years now. It’s interesting because lots of things have come in like long throws have come back in fashion and lots of set-piece goals are back in fashion, so who knows?
“Playing two centre-forwards might be the future. Will we do it? We may well do it when we need to, but I don’t think it’s something I’d be doing all the time, that’s for sure.”
Moyes has also expressed his disappointment with Barry and Beto’s goal tallies this season and has challenged them to finish strong over the final 10 games.
