Freddie Ljungberg has expressed his ‘surprise’ at Tottenham Hotspur conceding from a set-piece situation during their 2-0 defeat to Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League on Tuesday.

The Premier League legend added that Tottenham should be a ‘top, top club’ and their defeat in Portugal – their first of the season – was ‘bad’ from Antonio Conte’s side, as he told CBS Sports (13/09/22 at 8:05 pm).

It was a sloppy game from the Premier League team, and in the end, they were punished by the home side that turned it on towards the end.

For Sporting, the cherry was put on top of their cake when Arthur Gomes danced through their team, including nutmegging two players, before sealing all three points.

It’s back to the drawing board and Premier League action for Spurs, as struggling Leicester City await them at the weekend.

Nonetheless, this is what Ljungberg had to say about Tottenham’s defeat to Sporting yesterday.

“Yes, I am surprised because Spurs are normally very good at set-pieces,” said Ljungberg. “Then this magic on this side, it was an unbelievable goal, you must say form Arthur Gomes.

“It’s bad from Spurs, they should be a top, top club and conceding that (Paulinho goal) from a set-piece.”

WHAT CHANGES WILL CONTE MAKE?

During the summer transfer window, Conte was big on bringing in players that would improve his squad and not lower the levels when he makes changes.

Well, that is going to come into fruition against Leicester City because a few faces, that started in Lisbon, might find themselves on the bench at the weekend.

Ivan Perisic will perhaps be the logical change because he has been swapping with Ryan Sessegnon for weeks now, whilst summer capture, Yves Bissouma, might get a rare start.

Added with that, January capture, Dejan Kulusevski, might also be brought back into the fold, especially given that Son Heung-min is yet to score this season.
