Alan Shearer has praised Tottenham Hotspur trio, Son Heung-min, Harry Kane and Dejan Kulusevski who can all ‘scrap’ and ‘dig out’ for their team when defending following their 2-0 win against Nottingham Forest.

The Premier League’s all-time leading goalscorer added that Antonio Conte’s all-action attacking trio are going to be a ‘handful’ for any team this season.

On Sunday, it was newly-promoted Nottingham Forest that couldn’t stop the London club from romping home with all three points thanks to a brace from Kane.

Forest had a lot of the ball on occasions, but when Spurs are coming at you, especially on the counter, then they are a difficult animal to stop.

With two Golden Boot winners at their disposal, including rising star, Kulusevski, it’s understandable that their attacking quality is going to be highlighted on most occasions.

But Shearer was also keen to mention what they do without the ball and how they fight for every duel, as he told Premier League Productions (28/08/22 at 6:35 pm).

“The three players that are there are going to be a handful for any team that plays against them,” said Shearer. “And they punished them (for Tottenham’s opening goal).

“But there are the three players coming at you for Tottenham. If you stand off, like McKenna did, and give Harry (Kane) two or three yards, then he will punish you. It’s not his best strike, is he bothered? absolutely not. He wants that ball in the back of the net, in any way, shape or form.

“Once Tottenham go 1-0 up they are very difficult because of those forward players because they can dig out, defend and scrap.

“Not too much creativeness in midfield. But when you have those three up front, then you don’t necessarily need it.”

TOTTENHAM MARCHING ON

An unbeaten start to the new season for Tottenham, but added with that, they also haven’t lost their last ten Premier League games dating back to the last campaign.

Added with the healthy start, it’s also two clean sheets on the bounce, although, it’s only a small matter of a London derby next Wednesday night.

Spurs will make the short trip across the capital to take on West Ham United, who after losing three games on the bounce, picked up their first three points of the season on Sunday when they beat Aston Villa 1-0.

It’s one of those games that has potential dropped points written all over it for Conte’s men, but this is a changed team that will be hoping to prove otherwise.
