Alan Pardew has said that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have a problem with Gabriel Jesus.

The former Newcastle United and West Ham United manager has noted that Jesus did not play for Arsenal against Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium this past weekend.

So, what has Alan Pardew said about Gabriel Jesus? Let’s take a look.

Alan Pardew comments on Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus

Well, Arsenal took on Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League this past weekend.

The Gunners won 3-1. Gabriel Jesus did not play for Mikel Arteta’s side. The £265,000-a-week (Spotrac) striker had a knee injury.

Former Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has noted that Jesus’s injury issue is becoming a problem for Arsenal in their quest to beat Liverpool and Manchester City to the Premier League title this season.

Pardew said about Jesus on talkSPORT (6:58 pm, February 4, 2024): “Going back to the striker, I don’t actually think they need an out-and-out striker to win this league, but they do need Jesus because he is better than anybody else in that role.

“He can make them stronger by dropping deep, setting the wide players and setting goals up.

“I think they can win the league, but they need him fit. And that’s the problem. They keep losing him at key moments.”

My View: Arsenal need to sign a top number 9

In my opinion, Arsenal need to sign a top striker in the summer of 2024. I do not think that Gabriel Jesus is good enough to lead the Gunners to Premier League success.

While Jesus is very good at pressing and linking up play, he does not score enough goals.

The Brazil international striker has scored 73 goals and given 38 assists in 202 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.

Jesus has scored four goals and provided three assists in 13 starts and four substitute appearances in the Premier League so far this season.

Compare that with Erling Haaland. The Manchester City striker, who is in talks over a new contract, has scored 14 goals and given five assists in 16 Premier League starts this season.

Liverpool have a proven goalscorer in Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian forward has scored 14 goals and given eight assists in 20 Premier League matches this season.
