Michael Brown stated that Leeds United need to do everything to ‘keep’ Wilfried Gnonto at the club this summer.

The former Leeds United player stated that, if Wilfried Gnonto starts making noises again about wanting to move, then ‘his teammates need to get hold of him’, as he told Sky Sports Football

Transfer deadline day is upon us and Leeds will be hoping to add some final touches to their squad, it has been a pretty eventful summer for Daniel Farke at Elland Road.

Whilst fans will be hoping for some much-needed incomings, they probably can’t wait for the window to slam shut because it would then well and truly end talk of their star men leaving.

Even though Gnonto, who previously refused to train after trying to force a move, has returned to action, you just never know what might happen if another team tries banging on that transfer door again.

Previously, the all-action forward threw a strop, as Brown shared his thoughts on the winger’s situation and how those around the 19-year-old will know how to handle him.

“He is a great talent,” said Brown. “They have to try their utmost to keep him. He is the one who is going to create in this league. He will be having the ball a lot more as well, different to when he is in the Premier League. You feel like he could be the difference.

On danger for Leeds if they don’t sell him given how disgruntled he could be: “I think you have to look at his character. See what he is like.

“Is he just going to fall away? That’s the bit of judgment. The manager. The people in and around. His teammates possibly need to get hold of him.

“At that point, you then have a decision to make because it’s a vast amount of money. They can get that decision wrong with the financial problems they are in, at the moment.”

Gnonto can fire Leeds to promotion

Even Leeds fans will agree that Gnonto is worthy of playing Premier League football now, but they will want something back after they took a punt on him by signing him from Zurich last summer.

It has elevated his status and resulted in him getting plaudits all round the gaff, including Gary Neville stating that he is a Manchester City-type player.

To put it simply, if Gnonto stays put at Elland Road, then he has the quality to push Leeds towards promotion, without him, they hit a massive brick wall.
