Gary Neville has branded Leeds United fan favourite, Wilfried Gnonto as a ‘Manchester City winger’ due to how neat he is on the ball.

The £20,000-a-week wideman has been one of his side’s rare, but biggest positives this season.

So much so that Gary Neville seems to feel that Wilfried Gnonto would not look out of place in a Manchester City shirt.

The Italian international’s quick feet, pace to burn, directness and excellent final ball makes him the complete package.

And in some ways, the youngster’s profile and style of play takes one back to the time when touchline wingers were all the craze in world football.

Despite being in a Leeds side that is low on creativity, it has not stopped the 19-year-old from dazzling ever since joining the club in the summer.

In some ways, Manchester City could certainly do with a winger as direct and effective as Wilfried Gnonto, as Gary Neville has suggested.

With Phil Foden and Jack Grealish being more central players, Riyad Mahrez past his brilliant best and Cole Palmer still raw, the ex-Zurich starlet would light it up in sky blue.

And now, the high-profile pundit goes on to break down his take.

Gary Neville explained why he feels Leeds United wonderkid, Wilfried Gnonto is a ‘Manchester City winger’.

“Leeds fans won’t like me for saying this but when you look at a player like [Wilfried] Gnonto and how Manchester City play by playing those little passes into those midfield runners, he just looks like a Manchester City winger.”

“Leeds fans won’t like me saying that because I’m not selling him off. I’m sure they want to see him for another few years at Leeds United. He looks really, really good. So mature in his decision-making”, he said on Sky Sports, as relayed by Leeds Live.

Well, Leeds fans will certainly be incensed with Gary Neville if Wilfried Gnonto goes on to leave the club to don a Manchester City shirt one day.
