Don Goodman noticed how Tottenham Hotspur fans and Antonio Conte just ‘didn’t believe’ they were going to get back into the game when seven minutes of stoppage-time were shown during their 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa on New Year’s Day.
The former Wolves and WBA striker stated that normally there is a ‘loud cheer’ from the home team when there is so much stoppage time being awarded because supporters want to give their side one last push and hope that they can get back into the game.
In Tottenham’s case, time and time again, they have fallen behind this season – hence why there was a hush and morale-sapped reaction to those seven minutes behind added on.

In some cases, away at Bournemouth, they came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 in injury time, whilst they came back from behind on three occasions against Leeds, pre-World Cup, to secure the points at home.
But this time, Unai Emery’s defensively-solid Villans outdid them with and without the ball, as fans showcased their frustration towards how Daniel Levy is running the club during the game.
Nonetheless, this is what Goodman made of Spurs fans’ lack of belief that they could get something from the game as it neared its end against Villa, as he told Sky Sports Premier League.
“It doesn’t get a response from the home crowd,” said Goodman. “Normally, you get a loud cheer, don’t you?! But they don’t believe and it looks like he (Conte) doesn’t believe either that they can turn this around.”

TOTTENHAM FANS RIGHT TO BE ANNOYED
That’s two trophy-laden coaches Spurs have had in their dugout – previously Jose Mourinho and now Antonio Conte.
Yet, once again, there seems to be issues at the club and this uncertainty as to what the long-term future looks like.
In truth, it’s simple, for the job Mauricio Pochettino did, he wasn’t backed or respected enough in the market, which played a part in zero trophies.
Once again, with a proven manager in the dugout, it seems as though they won’t add that trophy to their cabinet. At some point, the buck stops with those at the top, rather than those on the training pitch.
