Don Hutchison has spoken about Arsenal and Mikel Arteta’s quest to replace the injured Gabriel Jesus during the January transfer market, as he hailed two targets – Mykhailo Mudryk and Joao Felix.

The former Premier League midfielder stated that Shakhtar Donetsk star Mudryk has been ‘exceptional’ in the Champions League this season and he is a player that is ‘blisteringly quick’ – he dropped his biggest hint yet that he wants a transfer to the Emirates.

Whilst Hutchison added that Atletico Madrid’s wantaway forward – Joao Felix – is a ‘completely different’ player to Jesus, but he is ‘brilliant’, nonetheless – transfer expert, Fabrizo Romano says Arsenal have spoken to the player’s agent.

Whilst talk, rumours and gossip rage ahead of the winter transfer window opening about who Arsenal could sign, one man is quietly doing his job and that’s Eddie Nketiah.

This was Nketah’s first start for the Gunners since Jesus’ injury and he did his talking on the pitch by scoring during his side’s 3-1 win over West Ham United on Boxing Day.

Whilst Arteta will continue to run with Nketiah, he still needs another option from the market because you don’t know when Jesus will be back, as Hutchison shared his thoughts on Mudryk and Felix, as he told Premier League Productions.

“They are looking at Joao Felix, he is a completely different type of player to Jesus, but he is a brilliant player,” said Hutchison.

“Mudryk for Shakthar, who has ripped the Champions League up and is exceptional. He has been blisteringly quick. But plays off the left-hand side.

“I think for the short-term, it’s Mikel Arteta getting through the next few games going into the window, then seeing what he fancies and what he wants through the door.”

ARSENAL GO SEVEN POINTS CLEAR

‘Arsenal are seven points clear of Newcastle United at the top of the Premier League table after Christmas’…

You would have been pretty rich if you put money on that before a ball was kicked this season because it’s pretty remarkable stuff.

Arsenal and Newcastle were the two teams spoken about losing momentum heading into the World Cup break, well, they have shut all that off with outstanding wins and performances on Boxing Day.
