Speaking on the Ball Street YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has outlined Liverpool’s strategy when it comes to replacing Georginio Wijnaldum.
The Dutch midfielder is of course out of contract in the summer, and with talks between the two parties seemingly at an impasse, Liverpool have reportedly come up with a contingency plan for if he does leave.
Indeed, Romano says that the Anfield outfit are looking for some young players for if Wijnaldum leaves the club in the coming months.
“Yes and for sure they are looking for some young players for if Wijnaldum will leave the club,” Romano said.
This is certainly interesting to hear.
The Reds have been linked with summer moves for a couple of midfiedlers this week with both Yves Bissouma and Renato Sanches touted for a move to Anfield.

Of course, this all depends on whether or not Wijnaldum will be signing a new deal at the Merseyside outfit.
We can only hope that Wijnaldum does extend his deal as he’s once again proven to be one of Jurgen Klopp’s most important players this season, but it is important to note that the Reds have a plan in place for if he does go.
We don’t know the names of the young players they’re are looking at at this point, but with Michael Edwards having a great record when it comes to making effective signings, we’re sure that they’ll find the right man.
