Rangers defender Connor Goldson has entered the final year of his contract at Ibrox, leading to a report suggesting the Light Blues are prepared to let him walk away for free next summer – prompting a mixed response from Gers fans on Twitter.
The Athletic are reporting that Rangers will not sell Goldson this summer but instead look to renew the defender’s contract over the coming months but are prepared to risk him leaving for free next year.

Goldson has been a colossus for the Light Blues since moving north from Brighton, playing every minute of every game last season as Rangers romped to the Scottish Premiership title.
While there has been reported interest in the defender in the past, there’s been nothing this summer to suggest he’s loooking to find a way out from Rangers.
Rangers will no doubt be confident they can secure a new deal for Goldson with the prospect of Champions League football this season.
With the winners of the Premiership this season set to gain automatic Champions League entry, it makes winning the title even more important for Rangers.
Some fans think this justifies the gamble of allowing Goldson to run his deal down – but others believe its blown a big hole in the “business model” Rangers have championed in recent years.
