Arsenal have a number of big decisions to make this summer, and one of the biggest calls they have to make is relating to William Saliba.
The £27m defender is at something of a crossroads in his Arsenal career and there are a number of options open to him.
He could either go out on loan again, try to stay and fight for his place or he could even leave on a permanent deal.
Saliba’s agent was at London Colney earlier this week to discuss his client’s future, and while we don’t know what Arsenal or Saliba are thinking at this moment in time, the Gunners’ next step is an obvious one in our view.
Saliba spent the second-half of last season out on loan at Nice where he flourished, earning a nomination for the European Golden Boy award for his exploits in France.
Things have changed a little at Nice since Saliba left, and they may have actually changed for the better.
Indeed, Christophe Galtier, fresh off of winning Ligue 1 is their new manager, and that would certainly bode well for the defender’s at Nice, considering the work he’s done with Sven Botman over the past 12 months, with the Dutch youngster now being recognised as one of Europe’s top centre-halves, despite being a relative unknown just two years ago.
Add in that Nice would provide Saliba with familiar surroundings and the fact that the young defender formed a great partnership with Jean-Clair Todibo over the last six months and it’s a no-brainer.
Galtier is the perfect manager, Nice is a place where he’s seemingly very comfortable and Todibo is a brilliant partner for him.
The signs seem to be pointing towards Saliba going out on loan again, and if he is to depart the Emirates on a temporary basis, the Gunners should be doing all they can to get him back to Nice.
