Hugo Lloris has said that Tottenham are yet to open discussions with the 34-year-old goalkeeper over a new contract.
Speaking to the Evening Standard, the Spurs captain revealed that the north London side have not approached the veteran shot-stopper about a new deal. Lloris has been with Tottenham since 2013 after arriving from Olympique Lyonnais for £13m.
The French international has one of Spurs’ most consistent performers over the years. But Lloris’ future with Tottenham looks up in the air with Nuno Espirito Santo signing Pierluigi Gollini from Serie A side Atalanta this summer.
Although the Italian keeper is yet to replace Lloris as the club’s number one keeper, there is a chance that Gollini could surpass the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner should the Frenchman’s form begin to dip.
With the Italian international eight years younger than Lloris, Gollini could be Tottenham’s new number one soon. And the Spurs captain has revealed that the club are yet to open discussions with him over a new contract.
Lloris said about his contract situation: “There’s nothing from the club (about a contract). It’s not a problem, I’m focused. We’ll see later about [that] but there’s no issue at all. We know each other very well.”

Indeed, it will be interesting to see which direction Spurs want to take with Lloris.
But with the club signing a UEFA Champions League keeper in Gollini this summer, the north London side could likely allow the French star to walk for free in 2022 when his deal expires.
