Ian Wright has claimed that there is an ‘assured silence’ from Tottenham Hotspur and he thinks that is ‘frightening’, as he told his own podcast.

The former striker added that Tottenham ‘don’t normally work like this’, as he reacted to Antonio Conte being the one in charge this summer.

In previous years, Daniel Levy has been the one pulling the strings and he has been front and centre of what they plan to do out on the pitch.

But the club’s chairman has recently taken a step back, with Fabio Paratici in charge of transfer proceedings and Conte getting what he wants.

That includes the duo dipping into the Italian market and signing some top-performing players – Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur.

Nonetheless, with Spurs starting the new Premier League season with an emphatic 4-1 win over Southampton, Wright is loving what he is seeing from the club.

“Wow, I did the Spurs game,” said Wright. “There is an assured silence from Spurs, at the moment, which is quite frightening.

“Simply because they don’t normally work like this. Conte is in charge. You can see that. Daniel Levy has given him, what, £150 million?!

“He’s said ‘okay, just go and do your stuff’. The signings. Richarlison, he could play instead of Harry Kane and Son. Or with them both. Great signing.

“Then Kulusevski is playing well. Every time he gets the ball, he does something assertive and it’s quality. Everything that he does, he is looking to hurt the team.”

CAN TOTTENHAM WIN A TROPHY?

That’s the main aim of the club and with Conte in the dugout, then they have every chance this season.

Previously, Spurs have had the squad to do the business, it could even be argued that the team Mauricio Pochettino built wasn’t just better than this current side, but much, much better.

However, during that period, they lacked the mental strength to get over that line and put trophies in their cabinet.

But that’s what Conte specialises in and he is known to eek every bit of quality out of a team and the players.
