Speaking on The Athletic‘s preview of the Champions League final, Phil Hay and Dan Bardell heard a very interesting claim about Jesse Marsch at Leeds.
What’s the story?
Well, the pair were speaking to Steve Freeth, who works closely alongside big names in the media such as Sam Matterface and Graham Hunter.
Interestingly, Freeth “wouldn’t be surprised” if Marsch is not in charge of Leeds at the start of the 2022/23 season, in what was a very intriguing statement.
Speaking on The Athletic‘s Football Podcast, Freeth said: “It wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if Jesse Marsch was not in charge at the start of next season. There might be a Spanish manager coming in.”
Now, we certainly would be shocked if the American was not holding the reins at Elland Road for the start of next season.
Leeds invested a lot in Marsch when they sacked Marcelo Bielsa to bring him to Yorkshire, and now he has kept them in the Premier League, the last thing you’d expect would be for him to leave.
Leeds have also backed him with the £22m signing of Brenden Aaronson, so it certainly doesn’t seem as if they plan to make a managerial change.
Leeds could replace Jesse Marsch with one man

We can’t see it happening, although if Leeds do replace Marsch, it could be Diego Martinez who replaces him.
According to La Razon, the Spaniard has already been endorsed by Victor Orta, Director of Football at Elland Road.
It was also said that Orta held talks with the 41-year-old about the prospect of replacing Bielsa, with Spanish media convinced Martinez will be managing in the Premier League next season.

Now, that certainly adds an interesting dimension to the story.
However, if Leeds wanted to hire Martinez, they could’ve done so before appointing Marsch, as he was unemployed at that point.
To put it simply, we’d be stunned if Leeds and Marsch part ways anytime soon.
