According to journalist Dean Jones in GiveMeSport, Arsenal are concerned about injury problems in midfield.
The well-known and well-respected journalist has claimed that it has been a concern for Arsenal since the start of the season.
The Gunners are looking for a central midfielder, but they are not just going to sign someone for the sake of it, according to Jones.
Arsenal concerned about midfield injuries
Jones said: “There is concern at Arsenal and there has been since the start of the season. What if we end up with an absence in the centre of midfield?
“There have been times when it’s happened, and it hasn’t been ideal for them, but they ultimately got through it and they’re still top of the league. They would like the right fit, again, they’re not going to go and sign someone just for the sake of it.”
Staying positive
In our view, Arsenal should not panic and sign a midfielder in the final days of the January transfer window just for the sake of it.
We have seen the Gunners do their transfer business carefully and bring in players they have tracked for a while and are absolutely sure will help the team.
The big issue for Arsenal in the middle of the park is a potential injury to Thomas Partey.
Partey has been one of the best defensive midfielders in the world and is a key figure in the Arsenal team.
There is no direct replacement for Partey in the Arsenal squad at the moment.
There is no one in the Arsenal squad who is of Partey’s level in the defensive midfield role.
The question is whether Arsenal would be able to find another Partey in the January transfer window.
