Well, Rangers‘ return to the Champions League proved something of a damp squib to say the least.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side have bowed out of European competition for another year following a disastrous campaign.
Rangers’ finished bottom of Group A in the Champions League with zero points and a goal difference of minus 20 [UEFA].
Unfortunately for the Gers that means they’ve recorded the worst-ever campaign of any side to have played in Europe’s elite competition [The Record].

Van Bronckhorst’s side were paired with Liverpool, Napoli and Ajax and therefore, progression to the last 16 was never a real possibility.
That being said, this is a light Blues outfit that also reached the final of the Europa League last season.
There’s absolutely no doubt that Rangers still should’ve covered themselves with a lot more glory throughout the competition.
There’s no disgrace in failing to qualify from this group, but failing to earn a single point and only scoring two goals in six outings is a dreadful record, it has to be said.
