Rick Shiels was given the chance to play at Shinnecock Hills ahead of the start of the U.S. Open next week.
Shiels is a very competent golfer and plays to a +1.6 handicap.
However, playing at Shinnecock Hills is a huge challenge for even the best golfers in the world.
Rory McIlroy thinks under par will win the U.S. Open next week, but if the wind kicks up, that will take some doing.

Shinnecock Hills can be an absolute nightmare when the weather isn’t perfect, and it’s worth remembering that Brooks Koepka last won the U.S. Open there with a score of one-over par.
So if even the best golfers on the planet struggle at Shinnecock, it’s fair to say that Rick Shiels was set for a serious challenge.
What Rick Shiels shot at Shinnecock Hills just before the U.S. Open
Shiels, the world’s biggest golf content creator on YouTube, played the course from the tees measuring 6,950 yards.
However, every par three was moved up a couple of tee boxes in order to keep them fresh for the U.S. Open.
In total, the course that Shiels played would have measured around 6,750 yards.

The Englishman ended up shooting a round of seven-over par 70.
He made just one birdie, six bogeys, a double bogey, and 10 pars.
77 is a solid score at Shinnecock Hills, especially considering the fact that the wind blew consistently throughout Shiels’ round.
The scores other content creators have shot at Shinnecock
More than 70 YouTube content creators all got to play at Shinnecock Hills recently.
Kyle Berkshire, a +4.5 handicap, posted a score of 73, while Fat Perez shot a 75.
Joey Cold Cuts shot an 83 while Bobby Fairways struggled to a round of 99.
Meanwhile, +3.7 handicap Micah Morris carded a 73.
Shinnecock Hills could be an absolute brute for the players next week during the U.S. Open.
If the wind picks up and the rain lashes down, any score in the low single-digit over par range could well be enough to win the tournament.
