Argentina are due to face England in the semi-final of the World Cup on Wednesday.
The winner of that match will take on either Spain or France in the final of the competition this Sunday.
Ahead of the latest round of fixtures getting underway, The Rock was speaking to LUZU TV and was asked: “I’m from Argentina and we are huge soccer fans, we have our own demi-god, Messi. Do you like Messi?”
Johnson went on to reveal that he loves Messi and he has heard that the former FC Barcelona talent is a ‘great guy’.
He said: “I love Messi, yes. I appreciate that there is an athlete who has just overcome the odds. It is incredible, I’m very happy for all of his success, and I hear he’s a great guy.”
Messi has already made history at the World Cup this summer by becoming the all-time top goalscorer.
He is now looking to lift the trophy for a second tournament in a row, but his path to the final is difficult.
Messi has never played England in a competitive match before, while a final meeting with either Spain or France will be tough.
