It is a game where there will be tension both on the pitch and in the stands given the two nations’ battles over the years.

What the Atlanta Police Department have warned England and Argentina fans
England and Argentina tensions run high following the Falklands War back in 1982.
Ahead of the game, the Atlanta Police Department have shared a statement on the extra precautions being put in place to ensure a safe and peaceful environment for supporters.
“As Atlanta prepares to host an upcoming FIFA World Cup semi-final match and welcomes increased numbers of residents and visitors, the Atlanta Police Department has enhanced its citywide public safety and security posture,” the APD told The Athletic.
“Additional personnel and resources are already deployed and will continue to be strategically assigned in and around the event venues, entertainment districts, and other high-traffic areas to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
“These proactive measures are designed to protect the public, deter criminal activity, and ensure residents and visitors can safely enjoy this historic event.”
Safety has to be at the very top of the priorities for the organizers and this game in Atlanta brings unique circumstances.
Argentina have already chanted about the Falkland Islands, which will naturally rub off on their supporters.
However, the local police in Atlanta are putting measures in place to ensure both sets of fans make it home from the game safely.
