Arsenal returned to winning ways in the Premier League after a comfortable 3-0 win against Southampton at the Emirates Stadium.

Alexandre Lacazette and Martin Odegaard fired the Gunners 2-0 up in the opening half before Gabriel Magalhaes wrapped up the victory with a cool header from a Gabriel Martinelli corner.

Three goals and a clean sheet was the perfect response from Arsenal after their horrorshow against Everton on Monday night, with the Gunners’ win against Southampton taking the north London side back to fifth in the table.

And for Gabriel, in particular, it was a sensational day for the defender. The centre-back, who Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar signed last year for a reported £23m, discovered earlier in the week that he will be a father for the first time in 2022.

And the defender’s 11-word tweet last night received plenty of love from Arsenal fans. Gabriel has become a fan-favourite at the Emirates, and his goal against Southampton was crucial in getting all three points.

Indeed, Gabriel could have had a goal earlier in the match. However, VAR ruled out a messy strike for Arsenal against Southampton due to offisde. But within minutes, the Brazilian international was on the scoresheet for real.

With Arsenal facing West Ham next, this win against Southampton was crucial. And fans on social media are buzzing with what Gabriel had to say on Twitter and his performance overall.
