Jose Enrique has reacted to reports that Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has said ‘yes’ to a summer transfer to Liverpool.

The former left-back added on his Instagram story that it ‘doesn’t surprise’ him that Alexis Mac Allister, who won the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with Argentina, has made such a call.

But ‘the problem’ for Enrique now is that, when it comes to agreeing on a transfer deal, will Liverpool pay the fee Brighton will want for the box-to-box midfielder?

There have been suggestions, before the summer transfer window opens, that Liverpool aren’t going to sign Jude Bellingham because he doesn’t fit their financial model, in other words, they can’t afford him.

If that’s the case, then the Reds can’t exactly afford to spend crazy or over the top on one player because several are going to be needed.

Therefore, with Jurgen Klopp’s side not the only ones keen on midfielders this summer, the fans better hope that their owners actually put down the money required because that seems to be an issue worrying Enrique.

“Doesn’t surprise me that he will say ‘yes’ to us,” wrote Enrique. “The problem we have is if we are going to pay the fee that Brighton is going to ask for (Alexis Mac Allister)?”

MAC ALLISTER SAY ‘YES’ TO LIVERPOOL

When transfer expert Fabrizio Romano speaks, then many tend to listen because his track record is as strong as Pep Guardiola’s domination in English football.

The Italian journalist recently shared, to Give Me Sport, that Mac Allister has said ‘yes’ to Liverpool to negotiate and they see him as a ‘top target’.

The general feel from the Liverpool fans seems to be that they would be pretty happy if such a deal gets over the line, well given all that has happened with Real Madrid-bound Jude Bellingham, then they better hope this one does get done, or else the supporters will make their feelings clear to those in the boardroom.
