It has been six years since LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers last won the NBA Championship.
At the time, the NBA’s postseason continued in the Orlando Bubble due to the coronavirus. While many have debated the value of that NBA Championship, it still counts as a ring.
Now, with LeBron James’ recent update on leaving the Los Angeles Lakers, the 2020 team has once again come under the microscope.

No NBA players from the 2020 LA Lakers team are on the roster
The Lakers’ 2020 were undoubtedly James and Anthony Davis as the duo led the team to an NBA Championship in their first season together as teammates.
However, players like Rajon Rondo, Dwight Howard, Alex Caruso, and more played a crucial role in the championship run as well.
But just six years after the phenomenal championship run, no player is still with the Lakers as James announced his exit.
While James’ future is still undecided, many key players have already retired from the league. Of course, the likes of Davis, Caruso, and Kyle Kuzma are still active players in the NBA, albeit with different teams.
Rob Pelinka remains as the only major person still with the LA Lakers
Aside from the roster, the Lakers have undergone a massive transition in terms of ownership with Jeanie Buss selling the team’s majority share to Mark Walter for a $10 billion valuation.
This leaves the Lakers with just Rob Pelinka, the general manager of the team, who is still with the team after six years.
Over the years, Pelinka has been repeatedly criticized by Lakers fans for a lack of moves to help James repeat 2020’s level of success.
It’ll be interesting to see for how long Pelinka can stay in his position if he repeats his mistakes in the Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves era.
